Advocacy and Support

The Advocacy Committee guides Council and the Association in their role as an advocate for the field of oral history and issues of concern to the Association and its membership.

In 2023, the committee published a resource set named “Oral Historians at Risk” to support researchers and narrators who find themselves working in politically and legally dangerous situations.

In 2025, the committee published an official OHA Accessibility Guidelines document that provides current and measured recommendations for members of the OHA with respect to public activities of the association, as well as OHA members and anyone in related fields who want to make their events and web presence more accessible.
