Experience

My background includes over 40 years with oral history or interview related work and narrative data management in TV and other media, corporate research which included interviewing, and as an oral historian for three books: a biography, a family history, and a book in the Routledge oral history series about the use of oral history worldwide in family histories. My education includes an Ed.D. from UCLA in ed psych with a media emphasis and an MA in theater and TV production. Subsequently I produced several TV series funded by the Bank of America, a series about museums for the NYC PBS station, and hosted a community talk show in the early days of cable TV in California. My dissertation: a controlled study indicating effective practices in two-way video distance learning. My corporate career involved being executive director of a Fortune 500 corporate university, developing high level management leadership programs, technical leadership programs, problem solving workshops, and facilitating innovation concept development work, overseeing a research division that included interviewing and analyzing narrative data. All of this is relevant to oral history work and to the development of an organization such as OHA.
