Program Associate – Center for Oral History

The Science History Institute (Philadelphia, PA) is currently recruiting for the full-time (35 hours per week) position of Program Associate, Center for Oral History. The Program Associate will focus on the maintenance and growth of the Institute’s oral history collection. Work includes processing audio/video recordings and transcripts; communication with interviewees; planning interviews for ongoing and future research projects; ingesting materials donated to the Institute; and other tasks associated with creating and preserving these primary source materials. The Program Associate will also be responsible for migrating existing oral histories into our digital collections, using the Oral History Metadata Synchronizer (OHMS), and updating workflows to track the status of each oral history interview.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in humanities, social sciences, or sciences
  • Minimum of three years of professional work experience, preferably in history, history of STEM, oral history, or public history
  • Knowledge of research databases like EBSCO, PubMed, JStor, Project Muse, and ScienceDirect
  • Demonstrated experience with copyediting and applying editorial style guidelines
  • Experience with a library CMS or DAMS database a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • OHMS experience preferred but not required
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects successfully
  • Solid proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • General familiarity with audio and video editing software
  • Ability to participate in domestic travel (5%)

**The starting point for this position is $60,000. Salary offer may be higher based on candidate’s experience. **
