To supplement this spring’s issue of the Oral History Review, which features a Special Section on Oral History and Disability, we present in Extra! two project-based posts, and an author interview. The Author Interview is with Nora Ellen Groce, author of the book featured in our Classics Revisited column, Everyone Here Spoke Sign Language: Hereditary Deafness on Martha’s Vineyard. Also featured are a focus on Alice Wong’s Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century, and a piece from Barbara Sommer and Teika Pakalns on Minnesota’s Deaf Heritage Projects and how those involved with the oral history project managed to affect change through new state legislation.
