Call for Papers: Ohio valley history conference

The 2024 Ohio Valley History Conference will be held at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. We welcome proposals for individual papers, complete panels, and roundtable discussions on all historical topics, periods, and geographic areas. In addition to this global focus, the conference theme for this year will be public history, broadly defined. We welcome projects that focus on public-facing history work and/or are from professionals working outside the academy. This could include original research or reports of work done in other capacities, such as exhibits and public programs. 

Undergraduate and graduate students, independent scholars, and public history professionals are strongly encouraged to submit their work and join us at the conference. 

Submission Information:

For individual papers, please submit the following as one attachment:

  1. A single-spaced abstract of 200 words, which should include the participant’s affiliation and contact information.
  2. A short CV (1 or 2 pages).

For complete panels and roundtable discussions, please submit the following as one attachment:

  1. Single-spaced abstracts of 200 words for each paper. Each abstract should include the participant’s affiliation and contact information.
  2. A short CV (1 or 2 pages) for each participant.

All proposals should be sent to OVHC-2024@apsu.edu by June 1, 2024. The organizing committee will send the conference program by late July 2024.
