Functions of Elected Roles
First Vice President: The First VP transitions into the presidency, ensuring experienced and steady guidance for the organization. The First VP helps shape long-term strategic goals, presides over key meetings, is heavily involved in planning for the Annual Meeting, and plays an essential role in advancing OHA’s mission.
Council Members: Council members serve as the organization’s governing body. They meet monthly and oversee policies, make decisions that affect programming, and ensure that OHA remains responsive to its members’ needs. Council members bring diverse perspectives, helping the organization adapt, evolve, and remain relevant in the changing landscape of oral history.
Nominating Committee: This committee is the engine behind future leadership. Members identify, vet, and nominate candidates for elected office, ensuring a fair and balanced election process. By choosing representatives for this committee, you influence who will help select the next generation of OHA leaders.
Committee on Committees: This group ensures that OHA’s standing and award committees are filled with active, committed members. Their job is to recruit and recommend volunteers for key service roles, keeping OHA’s many activities running smoothly. Voting for this committee means helping to match the right people with the right opportunities to serve.
