The Texas A&M University Special Collection and Archives Division is looking for an Oral Historian to join their dynamic team. In this new position, you will have the unique opportunity to provide expertise in conducting and managing oral histories documenting the history of Texas A&M University and other focused areas of research. Under the direction of the University Archivist, you will actively support the use of oral histories and oral history practice in exhibitions, educational initiatives, public programs, and other partnerships.

Opportunities to Contribute:
- Plan and coordinate oral history projects documenting various historical topics that align with the strategic direction of the University Archives
- Conduct oral history interviews and establishing standards and best practices for the oral history program
- Collaborate with University Library colleagues to enhance accessibility of oral histories, especially in electronic delivery
- Conduct oral history training in collaboration with campus and community partners and assist in development and management of educational initiatives
- Collaborate with University Archives on identifying oral history opportunities of potential interest to outside funding sources and prepare proposals for oral history program support
- Participates in scholarly activities and professional service for professional development and to incorporate new ideas and technologies
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in library science or related field or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with oral histories
- Knowledge of academic library functions
A well-qualified candidate for these positions will also possess:
- Additional graduate degree in history, museum studies or a specialization in history or public history
- 2 years’ experience in planning, conducting, editing, and completing in-depth archival oral histories
- Demonstrated knowledge of oral history professional practices, methodology, theory, and ethics
- Demonstrated experience with recording, editing, and transcription technology
- High level of proficiency with computer desktop applications required and specialized oral history software
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, researchers, faculty, community members, and colleagues
Minimum Starting Salary: $62,900.00
