VIDEO EDITOR and ORAL HISTORY ARCHIVE MANAGER for the Yiddish Book Center

The Yiddish Book Center’s Wexler Oral History Project seeks an experienced and committed full-time Video Editor and Oral History Archive Manager to provide on-site technical support for the ongoing processing of the Wexler Oral History Project’s rapidly expanding digital collection of one- to two-hour in-depth oral history interviews about Yiddish language and culture.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Process, edit, and upload video oral history interviews
  • Manage on-site and off-site organization, storage, and back-ups of large and expanding digital video archive to ensure long-term preservation and access
  • Oversee work of post-production staff and contractors processing oral history videos
  • Support content curation for web, email, and social media with editing and graphics
  • Videography and technical support for recording of on-site oral history interviews
  • Videography and editing for Yiddish Book Center’s communications and programs, as assigned
  • Coordinate day-to-day priorities within post-production and archival processes, in conjunction with Project’s long-term goals as defined by Project Director

Requirements:

  • Minimum three years of non-linear video editing experience (including color correcting and audio sweetening)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Premiere Pro
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GoogleDrive applications, and electronic communications
  • Experience working in Mac environment
  • Ability to update and maintain integrated tracking system for a complex workflow and expansive project
  • Ability to work independently, with low-level supervision
  • Curiosity about secular Jewish culture and Yiddish
  • Commitment to Project mission

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous work experience with digital collections or archives
  • Previous work experience with digital storytelling
  • Film production experience
  • Audio engineering experience
  • Social media content creation and management experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with Yiddish, Jewish history and culture
  • Proficiency in any of the following software programs employed currently or historically by the Project: Dropbox, AfterAffects, FileMaker Pro, Illustrator, PhotoShop, Media Encoder, Compressor, Handbrake, Final Cut Pro 7, Wondershare, ProTools, Avid, Drobo Dashboard, Carbon Copy Cloner, ClipWrap, BagIt, DiskTracker, Slack, OneDrive

Salary: $50-65,000 depending on experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: The position requires working at a desk and using a computer for prolonged periods of time. The position also requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, and reaching. Work will usually be performed in an office environment and museum spaces.
