#OHA22 WILL BE FULLY IN-PERSON
The 2022 annual meeting will be a fully in-person meeting. While the OHA is a stable and financially-sound organization, a hybrid conference (or an in-person meeting with a separate virtual one) is simply beyond our budgetary limits, as well as a strain to our membership and staffing capacities.
We fully recognize this decision may affect the ability of some to attend the fall conference. We also recognize our responsibilities in meeting the continuing challenges of the pandemic for those who can gather. The OHA will follow all guidelines and recommendations for large gatherings as determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. We will recommend masking and social distancing, and will comply with any local or hotel regulations that may arise. We are confident that the guidance of LA County health officials and The Millennium Biltmore Hotel––which is a spacious hotel––will enable us to provide our members a safe and rewarding conference.
While we are not able to offer a virtual component to this year’s conference, the OHA remains dedicated to providing accessible, virtual events as we meet the needs of our members. The past two years, and the OHA’s last two annual meetings, have shown us how effective online meetings can be. We look forward to continuing to provide these kinds of meaningful (and smaller) events in the months in-between our annual meetings. And we welcome your ideas on this front as we continue to find ways to support the field of oral history in the future.
